Austin's lake front homes are some of the most sought after homes in all of the Southwestern United States. The three lakes in Austin are Lake Travis, Lake Austin and Town Lake. All three lakes are created by the Colorado River which is damned up in two spots.

The largest of the three lakes is Lake Travis, which is located on the west side of Austin. Homes in this area are part of the Spicewood, Lakeway and Lago Vista communities, just to name a few. Homes directly on the lake usually start at roughly $600K and can go up to the multi-million dollar range.

The second largest of the three lakes is Lake Austin. Lake Austin is located in west Austin, between Mo-Pac and North Capital of Texas Highway. This area provides the luxury of waterfront living, while still being in the Austin area. Some communities in this area that have lake front homes are Steiner Ranch, Rollingwood and River Place.

The smallest and quietest of the three lakes is Town Lake. Town Lake is located just south of downtown Austin, which allows residents of the area to enjoy the experience of living on the water while being in the heart of the city.
