Originally developed in the 1970s and 1980s with many luxury homes in the hills on the south side of the Colorado River, the Town of Westlake Hills offers some of the most exclusive communities in Austin. Westlake Schools are part of the Eanes Independent School District. All of the nine schools in Eanes ISD have received the exemplary rating. The district's overall state is Exemplary, which makes Eanes ISD one of just two 5A districts in Texas to receive that designation in 2009.
